Paul and Tommy ‘seal’ success at Dargavel Village, Bishopton

Both of Taylor Wimpey West Scotland’s site managers at its developments of new homes at Dargavel Village, Bishopton have scooped a ‘Seal of Excellence’ in this year’s NHBC Pride in the Job Awards which positions both men within the top ten site managers in Scotland, and makes this development one of the top places to buy a new home.

Tommy Stirling has secured this recognition for his outstanding contribution to Dargavel Village South – a development that will deliver 197 two, three and four bedroom new homes. Whilst Paul Cunningham, who has led the team at the neighbouring Dargavel Village for the last 18 months to deliver 147 three, four and five bedroom new homes, has secured his fifth ‘Seal of Excellence’ in a long run of success in these annual NHBC awards, which has seen him named as overall Scottish winner in 2012 and 2014.

Paul started his career with Taylor Wimpey seventeen years ago as an assistant site manager, and he has worked his way steadily through the ranks to enjoy the last decade as a senior site manager with the company.

Enthusiasm and drive for perfection on-site have played a huge part in Paul picking up his latest NHBC accolade as he explains: “Being acknowledged as a Seal of Excellence winner for another year is still really exciting - even though I’ve won several awards over the years. I’m really delighted for every member of the team at Dargavel Village. Everyone has worked so hard to make achieving this award possible whilst also taking great pride in making sure that the homes we build are completed to the highest possible standards for our customers.

“Winning a Pride in the Job award demonstrates an important benchmark of quality that is well-recognised both within the industry and by our customers – so the full team at Dargavel Village will aim to build on this success to make sure we continue to deliver exceptional new homes.”
Tommy joined Taylor Wimpey eleven years ago as a material controller, and following success as a trainee assistant manager in Troon, he has steadily worked his way up through the ranks to become a site manager in June 2011.

Tommy’s thrilled to have picked up his first ‘Seal of Excellence’ as he explains: “I’m absolutely delighted to have won this award – it’s my first top ten position in these annual awards, and it’s just as exciting as when I won my first Pride in the Job award.

“This award recognises the strong team that I’m really proud of at Dargavel Village South, and I can’t thank them enough for their level of commitment and ability to get the job done. This is a complex development that demands the very best from our teams, and they’ve been brilliant every single day with each one playing their part in creating excellence for our customers.
“We will remain fully committed to delivering high quality new homes in future phases at Dargavel Village South as we strive to deliver an exceptional range of new homes for our customers at this popular development in Renfrewshire.”

The company is delighted for both site mangers as Willie Burns, managing director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland adds: “This year’s Pride in the Job Awards has recognised the commitment and exceptional standards of Paul and Tommy and their respective teams at our developments at Dargavel Village against very strong competition from other site managers in Scotland - including three more of our site managers who made it to the final stages.

“We’re really proud of the team’s overall achievements at Dargavel Village which has positioned it as one of the best places in Scotland to buy a new home.”
