Bishopton Primary takes a trip to view progress at Dargavel Village.

As part of Bishopton Primary’s ‘Bishopton – Past, Present and Future’ project for primary three/four pupils, Taylor Wimpey West Scotland gave the class of 54 children the chance to visit their development of new homes at Dargavel Village, Bishopton to let them see first-hand how construction is progressing at one of Scotland’s largest multi-million pound property developments right on their doorstep.

Over the course of this term the children have been learning about Bishopton’s history, as well as looking at their town in today’s terms.  The final part of their project takes the opportunity to find out more about the key development of Dargavel Village which is a major transformational development right on their doorstep that will deliver the masterplan vision for the area.

The on-site tour was an opportunity for the children to see the construction of new homes by Taylor Wimpey first-hand, and ask lots of questions about the development.  The on-site team also took the opportunity to reinforce their recent Health & Safety visit to the school to remind the children never to play near the development at any time – especially important as the long school summer holidays are ahead.

As production at DargaDargavel_Village_Bishopton_Primary_School_Taylor_Wimpey_West_Scotlandvel Village continues at full swing, Taylor Wimpey is keen to continually promote the dangers associated with playing near any construction site, and raise awareness of the children’s need to be extra vigilant as work progresses.

Taylor Wimpey West Scotland was thrilled to be able to bring the children’s Bishopton project to life as Audrey Ross, sales and marketing director explains:  “Having the chance to visit a development like Dargavel Village, Bishopton, whilst it’s under construction is clearly a brilliant opportunity to bring a different dynamic to classroom projects.

“From the work the children had already done in school on the former land-use of the site, we hope the children were able to gain a sense of the size, scale and scope of the development and how it will transform their local area.  They certainly asked lots of questions and were very interested in how we build our new homes – in fact I think we’ve inspired a few children to consider a job in the construction industry!

“As well as having a chance to help with their project, and with health and safety of vital importance to Taylor Wimpey, our site manager Martyn Campbell took the opportunity to reinforce just how important it is for children to stay away from buildinDargavel_Village_Bishopton_Primary_School_Taylor_Wimpey_West_Scotlandg sites during the summer holidays – or indeed at any time!”

Mrs Mackillop, deputy headteacher of Bishopton Primary School adds:  “Having the chance to see Taylor Wimpey’s new homes at Dargavel Village being constructed was a unique learning opportunity for our Primary 3 children.  This development is very much part of this area’s future, and the children were fascinated to see how everything works together at the development to build a new home.

“We even had the chance to have a sneek preview of one of the completed showhomes which was very exciting for everyone because we know how excited lots of people are for those to open.

“We’ve also thoroughly enjoyed meeting Taylor Wimpey’s local site manager Martyn again, who’s ensured that our children are well aware of the dangers of playing near or on a construction site.  Our children had a unique opportunity to join him on a site-tour, andDargavel_Village_Bishopton_Primary_School_Taylor_Wimpey_West_Scotland I know they have learnt valuable messages about health and safety which will be shared with the rest of our school.”

Taylor Wimpey West Scotland’s first development in Dargavel Village, Bishopton offers 147 new homes comprising a range of three, four and five bedroom houses in a variety of styles and sizes.  A further development of 150 new homes offering a mix of two, three, and four bedroom styles will be introduced later this year – increasing the overall choice of homes for buyers to consider.

The sales information centre is located off the North Access Road, Dargavel Village, Bishopton.  Opening hours are Thursday – Monday from 11am-5.30pm.  For the latest availability and prices visit
